What are the criteria for undertaking SIRA NSW Impairment Assessment Training?
Please visit https://www.sira.nsw.gov.au/health-providers/education-and-training for eligibility criteria under each Scheme to ensure your eligibility to seek SIRA Approval.

What is the Refund Policy
Participants who wish to withdraw from a module and request a refund must do so in writing prior to commencing the module. All refunds are subject to a $50 non-refundable administration fee. Participants may transfer their enrolment to an alternative training date at no additional cost.
How can I make payment for my registration?
Registration fees must be paid by credit card. All payments are processed securely through our online Stripe payment gateway to ensure the protection of your personal and financial information.
Is the AMA Guide included as part of the registration?
No – you are required to purchase the relevant AMA Guide (AMA 4 or AMA 5) as per information provided under each Scheme Worker’s Compensation or Motor Accident. You can purchase AMA Guides at https://shop.mja.com.au/. You need to have the respective AMA Guide with you when you attend training.

How are the Instructor-led sessions delivered?
All instructor led sessions are delivered via the Zoom platform. You will receive the link at the time of registration.
Is completing Core Module mandatory?
Yes, Core module should be undertaken and successfully pass before attending a Specialty Module.
How do the assessments look like?
You will be required to complete a competency-based assessment after attending each module.
For each module, the final assessment requires you to complete 3 case studies. Responses to the case studies must be deemed satisfactory to successfully complete the module. Participants are required to complete and pass the assessment within 30 days of attending the session.
For Self-Paced modules, participants are required to complete the assessment within 30 days of registration.

Do I get feedback if my submission is not up to mark?
Yes. If your submission is deemed unsatisfactory you will receive feedback to help you with your second submission. If the second resubmission is still not deemed satisfactory, you will have to re-sit the module.
What happens if I fail my submission?
You will be required to re-enrol in the module (payment required)
Does training cover to seek approval for both Worker’s Compensation and Motor Accident Schemes?
No. Training and approval requirements are scheme-specific, and practitioners must complete the relevant training for each scheme separately. However, SIRA recognises mutual recognition for the Visual System module and the Psychiatric and Psychological Disorders / Mental and Behavioural Disorders module. Successful completion of either of these modules in one scheme will be recognised as meeting the equivalent training requirement in the other scheme.
The visual system : Visual system training in the NSW workers compensation and motor accident schemes is based on AMA 4. SIRA recognises the successful completion of training in either scheme as meeting the requisite training requirements for the other scheme.
Psychiatric and psychological disorders/Mental and behavioural disorders : The Psychiatric Impairment Rating Scale (PIRS) is used to assess permanent impairment for psychiatric and psychological disorders in the NSW workers compensation scheme and mental and behavioural disorders in the NSW motor accidents scheme. SIRA recognises successful completion of training in either scheme as satisfying the training requirements of the other scheme.

How do I apply for SIRA approval to work?
There are separate approval requirements for practitioners wishing to assess permanent impairment in the NSW Workers Compensation Scheme and the NSW Motor Accident (CTP) Scheme.
